Workshops, Seminars & Papers

The organizing committee is calling for expressions of interest from people who wish to present a workshop, seminar, or paper at this conference.

Call for proposals
Proposals are sought for workshops, seminars, and papers, which address the conference title and themes.

Types of presentation:
Workshops: length: 45 or 90 minutes [Proposals due: October 1st 2010]
Seminars: length: 45 minutes [Proposals due: October 1st 2010]
Papers [refereed]: length: 30 minutes [groupings of 3 papers allocated 90 minutes.

Proposals due: September 1st 2010]

Workshops:
we are keen to include a wide range of workshops for teachers working with secondary-aged students [ages 12/13- 18, years 8/9-13]. Workshops should ideally be interactive and should give participants the opportunity to engage with practical activities and discussion.
We anticipate that workshops offered will cover all aspects of an English programme and that they will have great appeal to practising teachers.
Due date: October 1st 2010.
Workshops proposals must be accompanied by an abstract of 300 word [maximum] and biographical details [50 words maximum]

Papers provide researchers and teacher–researchers with an opportunity to present their work to an audience of English specialists. We will group the presentations so that three papers
which “speak to one another” in some way are scheduled together. Each presenter will have
30 minutes for presentation and discussion.
Due date: September 1st

Seminars are an opportunity for contributors to share work and ideas with conference goers.
The seminar will ideally give participants the chance to listen to you and to engage in discussion
with you at the conclusion. You might be keen to discuss a text you have used, a teaching strategy
that has been particularly successful, or some research you are carrying out. The seminar format is
intended to be shorter and less practical [hands-on] than the workshops, but not as formal as the
refereed papers.
Due date: October 1st 2010.
Seminar proposals must be accompanied by an abstract of 300 word [maximum] and biographical
details [50 words maximum]
